At SAFWGS, we believe that true progress begins when women and girls participate in shaping the decisions that affect their lives. Through advocacy and civic engagement, we ensure that women and girls have the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities to influence policy and drive positive change in their communities.
We work at both policy and grassroots levels to amplify voices, champion gender equality, and build pathways for women and girls into leadership.
Our work in advocacy and civic engagement includes:
Kallabi Leadership Fellowship
Our flagship fellowship program developing young female leaders. Fellows gain knowledge of governance, civic processes, and leadership skills, and have the opportunity to observe legislative sessions and draft policy briefs, motions, and bills addressing women and girls’ issues.
Boys as Allies Initiative
We believe true change includes men and boys. This initiative engages young men to understand gender equality, respect women’s rights, and become allies in creating safer communities.
The Orange Walk Niger
is one of SAFWGS’s boldest public advocacy actions to date. Held as part of the global campaign to end gender-based violence, the walk brought together community members, youth leaders, civil society organizations, and local stakeholders to raise their voices against all forms of violence targeted at women and girls.
