Kallabi fellowship is a culturally inspired initiative aimed at fostering civic participation among young women in Nigeria. Drawing its name from the traditional headscarf that symbolizes cultural identity and values, “Kallabi” seeks to empower and engage young women in Northern Nigeria to actively participate in governance, Transparency / accountability process, policy advocacy, and leadership through tailored training , workshops, mentorship programs, and advocacy initiatives, Kallabi aims to equip young women with the skills and knowledge needed to drive positive change. Kallabi encourages young women to seamlessly blend their cultural heritage with modern aspirations. By donning the “Kallabi” of leadership, young women will amplify their voices, initiate change, and contribute to shaping a more equitable and just future for Nigeria.
Project Goals and Objectives:
Our core goal is to elevate the role of young women in governance, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to contribute to their communities effectively.
To achieve this, we’ve outlined four (4) key objectives:
1. To equip young women with critical leadership and governance skills.
2. To enhance participants’ understanding of policy development and implementation.
3. To provide practical experiences through internships and mentorship.
4. To foster a network of young female leaders committed to inclusive governance.
Target Audience:
The primary beneficiaries of the Kallabi project are young women aged 20-35 residing in selected LGAs. The project also engages community leaders, local governance institutions, and the general public to foster a supportive environment for women’s leadership.
